“Efficient compressing teamed with extensive security”
Finding a good free alternative to Winzip can be a hard task, but SecureZIP Express seems to have it cracked. Anyone who has used a compression tool before will be familiar with SecureZIP Express' layout. The program's main interface is easy to navigate and customizable. It also has a wizard function for three of the main tasks you are likely to use the program for, so even total beginners will quickly be able to get to grips with the basics.
As well as compressing and decompressing, SecureZIP Express allows you to email your files directly and provides extensive security options, ranging from passwords and recipient lists to your own digital certificate, which can be downloaded separately for free. The certificate is valid for one year and comes with an online tutorial for those not familiar with the concept.
SecureZIP Express also tests files, to make sure that every thing is in order, before or after modifying them, as well as allowing you to carry out other tasks, such as updating files from saved versions and creating favourites.
If there are any faults in SecureZIP Express, it is that it offers a huge number of configuration options, the sheer volume of which could confuse users, even the more experienced. Luckily, SecureZIP Express comes with good help and support, but you would need to do plenty of research before you could be sure of getting the most out of the program.
